Comments: Additional gear beta:

Cell phone to call your lawyer.

Hockey goalie body armor to mitigate the inevitable beat-down.

Fifi hook and ladder aiders make for an easier ascent.

Be ready to move around the arete to avoid subjective hazards.

Fun route!

Comments: Anyone know what the 6-bolt route just up-hill of "Lost & Found" is? Super fun, exposed diheral-to-arete. Two stars, at least!

Comments: We felt it was harder than 5.9, but yeah - "Old School" 5.9 is fair.

Doubles in the 2-3" range, plus a 3.5" was handy for us scaredy cats.

Agree with mac - the 6-bolt sport route to the right is exposed and fun!

Comments: LOOSE ROCK WARNING: If you are planning on climbing at Highland Wall while parties are on the super-popular North Face Route, it is advisable to bring a helmet and stay close to the wall when belaying. We had 3 incidents of rock-fall from high above yesterday, barely missing me, and a small rock actually hit my wife on the head.

Additionally, because of the wind, ledges and multiple parties, we are going to bring walkie talkies (and start early) for the North Face climb.

Comments: Did this climb today - super fun and techy dihedral. I disagree with CMiller (above) in that I thought the initial sequence was bolted well.

I also thought it was way better than the one star everyone heretofore has given it.

The guidebook says "gear to 2 inches" - that's not right by my measure.

The largest piece I used was a .5" - I would suggest doubles on small TCU's, as well as a larger stopper or two.

Comments: Thanks, Todd! Updated. Yes, ran into Jeff Neer - he also redid the start of "Exit Stage Left" with John Sherman. A different steep start and 4 stars now, IMO.

Comments: Replaced the "industrial" gated hooks with new Mussy Hooks today.

Also, replaced the old quick-links with new plated, tested ones from France.

Thanks to the ASCA for the hardware!

Comments: We have recently added a kid & pet-friendly crossing (just below the Narrows), and 7 new routes to this area. The new climbs are moderate (from 5.3 to 5.10b), making "Pink Face Area" an even better beginner area.

Please stay on established trails.

Comments: Fraggle Rock is right off the Lower Gorge road and the kid/pet-friendly crossing to Pink Wall. It has most of the elements of the ORG found in the more difficult climbs: sloping edges, fun incuts - and finishes with easy eyebrows to the anchors.

A great introduction to the type of climbing found in the gorge for the beginning climber, non-climbing friend or family outing with the youngsters.

Comments: As BAd stated, we replaced the worn open-shuts with Mussy Hooks. We were able to re-use the far right bolt, and added one more bolt to the right of that - making the anchor clip a little easier.

Comments: ^^Thanks for the heads-up - we will check them occasionally. They certainly wear longer than the Mussy's (which have their own gate issues, as well).

Fixe Hardware is in Bishop where I live - like 5 blocks away. Pretty sure they will be there for issues with anchor replacement hardware.

Erik
