Oct 17, 2023 · W Kevin next day. He led p1, my cordelette still there! G did updraft p2 to bird poop belay ledge. I led p3 money pitch! Scariest was initial thin traverse out, imo. Had to reach to clip piton. Really small stuff like .1 first piece then piton and then better .3 I think. Flake was actually pretty solid feeling with layback! No 2 placement despite beta from some comment. Placed 1s, .5 in flake and above. Awkward cramped bulge roof to step around after but did it fine. I was really nervous before but there was no sketchy slab move like Arrow and I was never run out at all. I sewed this baby up. What a great day!

Oct 16, 2023 · I led p1, geoff p2. THE ROOF! So good. Geoff fell there, handjam slipped. But he wasn’t far from extended .5. I accidentally cut feet there, which made the roof even more exciting, found a kneebar which felt great. Thought the second “roof” was also kinda awkward. Saw a hawk! P2 up to the business didn’t have many placements low. Geoff made it work with a couple small placements. P1 was typical Gunks face horizontal ladder. Wish I climbed and placed pieces more efficiently. Surprise roof near end, wish I had more but I found a .2 placement and it was fine. What a great climb!

Arrow
Oct 15, 2023 · Lead. I did p1. Very chill, took my time. Was scared of Alley Oop start so ended up here. Surprised no one ahead. Geoff did p2 I sat belayed on GT ledge. Roof was easier than Shockley’s Ceiling. Crux was the slab at the two bolts up top. I went left bc feet looked better. Geoff went right, said there was a good side pull. Really awesome bench reclining seats at the top!

The Ceiling
Oct 15, 2023 · Lead. With G, I led P2. Fun little jog pitch to the right on horizontals. Geoff thought we were lost after pitch 1 already lol. I checked beta for my pitch but found clear belay ledge. Fun roof move on P3. Otherwise very chill welcome back to the gunks! Saw family with two boys climbing next to us. They cheered when I pulled the roof!
