Comments: We're heading up to Santa Fe this weekend to check it out and escape triple digit temps in El Paso. We're looking for nice shady climbing in the 5.8-5.11 range (sport or trad) with old dog-friendly short approaches. Is diablo the best bet? How hot is the camping there in the summer? We'd love to find some shady camping options near water ... any suggestions?

Thanks,
Meg

Comments: There's now a beehive right on the 1st /2nd pitch of this route. It will be hard to avoid.

Comments: A bee hive is now 20 feet from the belay at the base of the finger crack on Indecent Exposure. We were there in the early morning and with the shade / cooler temps they didn't bother us, but be carefull - they nearly killed another party the previous weekend on Indecent Exposure. Also be careful of angry bat guarding 2nd pitch.

Comments: Woo Ho! This place looks great. Anyone know if the falls are usually running in the summer?

Comments: A few small offset cams are handy if you do the easier 11 variation to the right.

You can rap from the top of the 5th pitch to the base of the OW w/ 2 60's, but we got our knot very very stuck doing this - shorter raps would be prudent.

Comments: The bark on the 6th pitch rap Juniper is starting to ring-out from the collection of thinner cordage and slings. The tree is still live and in good shape, but some added padding or multi wrap of wider webbing might help to keep it that way.

Comments: Moving to El Paso ...

We're moving to El Paso in a few weeks and are looking for a roommate or two to split a house near the downtown UTEP area, preferably somewhere in the Sunrise Hills area. We = my boyfriend James, myself, and our dog Whittlock. We're laid back 20/30ish and would be very happy to share a house with other climbers.

Peace,
meg

Comments: I recently found a small metal vial containing another glass vial (now broken) full of very small white pills at the base of the 5.8 crack that goes up to Northern Corn... any idea as to what these are / where they came from?

Comments: Has anyone summited Lady Mountain via the slabs at the top of Ghost Dance? Is this a hike from the top anchor, or does one need to bring additional hardwear?

Comments: We always called it the Thumb. Every few years some angry youth scrambles to the to to 'flip off the world' and often requirs rescue.

Comments: Thanks for the info Paul and Rusty. Did you begin the approach from the old Boriana Mine or dive up the 4WD BLM road?

Comments: Most excellent and varied climbing, but just one question: Can someone explain the logic behind the "Your F#cked" sticker found on the first bolt of the 5th pitch. The bolt was solid and the moves were safe and pleasant. Banditos? Not sure why, but I felt the need to gnaw it off with my teeth - even more the reason I wish to know its intended purpose.

-Mildly perplexed.
