Favorite Climbs: ANYTHING in the Needles! Also, Anti-Jello Crack at Dome Rock. My favorite sites on the Central Coast are Rattlesnake Canyon, Wheeler Gorge and the Fortress.

The reason for calling this technique "the Gondola" is that their reward for demonstrating perfect lowering technique on the top half of the route was to sit back and "ride" down the second half.

 <br />When they were little, they enjoyed this even more than the actual climbing!  The most effective way to teach the boys to lower properly was to use a technique that the boys came to affectionately call "the Gondola." To do this, I first counter ascend up, clip myself to the tie-in knot using a PAS, and then lower together.  Dome Rock (July 2017)  Dome Rock (July 2017)  Sadly, the signature tree appears to be dead.
