Comments: The belay/rap bolts for the top of P2 are actually two bolts higher than depicted in this picture. There is only one bolt for the traverse between the top of P2 and the belay/start of P3. Most link moving the belay with P2 though. Just to note that you don't need to do extensive down climbing (past two bolts) if you use the rap at the top of P2.

Comments: I can confirm that a single 70M rope, with stretch will get you to the bottom in one rap from the summit bolts down the Northwest face. The ends come to about 3' off the ground.

Comments: All bolts replaced within original locations. The first bolt takes a committing move and a stick-clip may be advisable. Climb on!

GM Approach to Front Porch

In response to Marcy's comment, the PCC would very much like to help out the GM area as much as possible. It is definitely in our minds and everyone will sure know about any opportunity to vol... more >>

Comments: The route up the crack probably goes at 5.7/8. The hardest move is about 4ft. off the deck. Also, I find it easier to access this area as approaching the "Below The Dam" area by starting at the Granite Dells Rd. trailhead parking (FREE). The sport route on the West side of the formation probably goes at 5.10/b. All routes can be TR'd from top with the tree.

Comments: Just a heads up to everyone... I put up a rap station on top of the Swamp Slabs area, about 25' North of the old Juniper, on July 16th 2014. It's a simple thread-through with red sling and a carabiner. It reaches about mid-way down the slab on top of the boulders with at least a 60 meter rope and is a really clean pull. From there traverse out to the normal descent trail. Hopefully it stays there throughout the entire season.

Cheers,
Mac

Comments: PLEASE DO NOT use a "hammer and a chisel" on the route to remove a piece of gear that may be mangled in there. This was attempted on Trieber's Deception on the Thumb and it failed miserably. Someone also attempted to take a hacksaw to one of the lobs on said other cam to free it, to no avail. The next time I am in Phoenix (this weekend or the next) I WILL go up and remove it, without brute force, so that the rock remains intact and that the people climbing the route do not clip an unsafe piece o... more >>

Comments: I realize there are already a TON of comments and various bits of info scattered throughout them, but here are a few things I did not get out of them that would have been helpful.

- Each belay is bolted with screw-lock chain links.
- (going from above) It is possible to rap from the top of 1st OR 2nd pitch to the ground WITH A 70 METER ROPE.
- It is possible to rap from the top of the 3rd pitch to the 2nd WITH A 70 METER ROPE.
- 3rd pitch is crazy weird/awesome eats up #2-#4 C4's... more >>

Comments: The "triangle hanger bolt" is a triangular glue-in eyebolt, about 30' from the top on a ledge. You may be able to actually rap off of it, especially if you put on a quicklink.
The route itself has marginal pro, at best it takes just nuts and a #1 C4 on route and there is a spot for a thread-through about 10' from the top of the route which protects the topout if needed. The holds are really there, but the gear is sparse. I used a nut and a #1 C4 on the the wall all the way up to the... more >>

Comments: "Opt Pro" is a slight joke. At the time that is all I had with me, so I had to make due, and just saying it is possible to do with just those pieces.. I would have definitely preferred bigger pro without a doubt. Probably #3-4 C4's.
Some info worth noting then would be: bring pro #1 C4 size and under, or #1-4 C4 sizes. It can be protected either way.

Comments: I think this is actually one of the best routes I've done at PP. I did take the above comments under consideration and brought along the #6 for the bottom crux, which worked out really well.

Comments: First, I'd like to mention how great this route is. Unfortunately I was only able to climb the first two pitches, but they were amazing. Pitch 1 was definitely a tough pitch, having not climbed the whole route I can't determine if that would be the crux pitch as everyone says. Also, my friend and I found the route very easily following the approach directions given. We were able to do it in 50mins, taking a few breaks on the way up.

Second, we descended back down to the trailhead from the rout... more >>

Comments: Worth noting that in the last year there have been about 10 bolts added for anchors at the top of the lower tier, nice for the TR enthusiasts.

Comments: I believe only nuts smaller than #6BD will fit in the top seam of this crack. Not deep enough for good cam placements either. The first placement would be about 15' up, then the bolt is a bit of a reach once you stand on the large black jug. Very fun route.

Comments: I think it should be noted that a 70M WILL get you from the summit anchors(east-most top-two/biggest eyebolts) to the top of the 4th class gully anchors, down the south face. So you don't need to hassle with the mid-way rap. However, it was a bit tight with maybe 3' on each end remaining.

Comments: 2/3 of the bolts are relatively new. I took a whip on the 3rd not-so-good looking bolt and it was solid. No worries here, super fun route!
