Comments: So, I think I have had three (maybe four) conversations with either maintenance personnel or law enforcement about parking here. The opinions are mixed between them all, but the last interaction wasn't exactly good.

A highway patrolman stopped with some maintenance guys we had spoken to earlier, and he said we absolutely cannot be there; he made some foolish passing comment about being arrested. I'm not going back unfortunately. I'll be looking into getting permission/speaking to the... more >>

Comments: I found it more enjoyable to climb the flake after the traverse on the second pitch rather than climbing the corner. Of course this isn't the original climb. Be careful of loose rock atop the flake if you go that way.

Comments: Loved this climb. Not much loose rock on the way. I belayed off the tree using my climbing rope to extend the belay all the way to the roof so there was less drag then walked over to the rock on the right to rappel.

Comments: I figure it is worth mentioning the traditional start to Sucking Wind requires some very large OW gear such as a C4 #6 and large hex and/or some very small gear smaller than C4 #0.25. I tried climbing the traditional start, but after placing a solid hex 10 feet up, I had nothing big enough to protect the OW chimney and nothing small enough for the holes in the main face further up. I ran it out for 20 feet before downclimbing and going back to the more popular face-climbing start.

Comments: The belay ledge at the top of the third pitch was clean when we climbed in March 2015.

Anyone know if the fourth pitch is manageable? I was looking at going up the length of the chimney but wasn't sure about rappel/downclimbing options.

Comments: That top pin is still in. The lower pin backed up with a cam is removed now.

Comments: Pulled two pins. One was getting a bit loose, the other was never driven in all the way and had been fallen on pretty hard, and it bent 90 degrees down. Both have plenty options for pro around them. The top knifeblade with 1/2" webbing is still in and in a pretty important location. Bring extra 1/2" webbing when you climb it. Chances are it will be rotted, and a carabiner won't fit in the pin due to location.

Comments: I had a terrible time getting the rope to the anchors and took a fall with slack out, but eventually got it. Nice clean fall.

Comments: First 5.10b route. The crux was difficult for a short armed guy like me.
