More Info
I learned to climb at the Gunks over five years ago. From my partners, I have learned to lead responsibly and climb clean, but I don't mind pushing my boundaries. Onsight? Flash? Redpoint? Not my language. Think quiet, but supportive, leader and follower. Joy comes from the feel of the rock and the partnership, not the tick mark.
My favorite climbs at the Gunks have taken me above the first pitch where the crowds thin and one's connection to the environment become stronger. I have been fortunate to make it to Vegas a couple times (Purblind Pillar, Tunnel Vision, Geronimo), Boulder (Kor's Flake, Rewritten) and the Dacks, but only 3 hrs separates me from the Gunks, so that is where I tend to end up most.
Some of my Gunks favorites include CCK, Westward Ha!, Miss Bailey, Alley Oop, Morning After, Bloody Bush, Grease Gun Groove, Three Doves...followed by Coxing Kill dip & Egg's Nest dine!
