Comments: I heard a rumor about bolted monoliths past Fountain Red from a ranger at the Buffalo River. Anyone have any info on these?

Comments: Found this area scrambling around one day. Such a cool place. Had to take the kid up there so he could cross through the cave on the chain. He loved it. Great spot.

Comments: @Lee Neale, we've been eyeing those bluffs. Looks like there's a few routes on that bulgy pillar feature. I've been told it's choss though. Bolting isn't allowed. Damn feds. Chad Watkins put up a route at Kyle's Landing last week. Mentioned some choss. Looks worth it though. Keep me posted. I'm headed back to Alaska in a week or so, but I'd like to put in some work on them this fall. Hit me up on facebook,

Comments: The approach is a little tougher than Sam's. For one, it's uphill. Still, worth it! The climber trails are a little rough on the north, but the south side is fairly decent. We cleaned it up a bit for you with machetes, if you've got one bring it. Quality rock is an understatement. This crag is spectacular. The walk-in camping sites are great, but it's a walk. The car camping is so so, but don't forget Richland Creek is just six miles south from Dickey Junction. There's pit toilets and water. Als... more >>

Comments: Cord is starting to look a little weathered as of June 27th, wish we had brought some. Threw a brand new mallion on it for you guys. Bring some new cord or webbing to be safe. Make sure you're proficient with TCU's before you lead it. The hard moves are in the start and there's not much for nut placements. Posted a video on my facebook if you'd like some beta, Beautiful top out. Maybe the best in Arkansas. Enjoy!

  • **The R Rated Version***
We were a little sketched out about leading this x rated route with out having seen it up close. So we climbed great expectations and rapped down it after reaching the anchors for it. We discovered it is possible to top rope the first pitch with a 60 meter rope. Climb both pitches of Great Expectations or the Dihedral. Rap down to the first set of anchors, clip in, and set it up. We used standard over the shoulder slings and a few ovals. Gave us some piece of mind our f... more >>

Comments: The old guidebook lists it as a 5.8. I think it's been sandbagged. Definitely a 5.8. Great climb. Kind of a bouldery start, but eases up a bit higher. Takes gear well, a couple of #3's and #4's will get you up the majority of it. Threw a number one in up top to protect the move to the anchors. Good times.

Comments: It is a tad tricky to find the first time. There is only one road that intersects the highway when going through Cowell. I believe it's labeled Cowell Rd 55 or some such, but like I said it's the only road. Just pay attention, it's not really a town. Just a few houses. Head east on the dirt road otherwise known as 1200. It's about five miles. You'll pass a few ATV roads labeled with brown forest service posts. The first is 1204a on the right, then 1204b, 1204c on the left, and then 1204d. Take t... more >>

Comments: Ha! Get 'em Tony. Thanks for a great book. Make the trip from Tulsa several times a year. It's like heaven down there. A lifetime of beautiful climbs.
