Comments: Mike,
There is only one outdoor spot to climb in southern MI and it is called Grand Ledge. TR and bouldering is what 99.9% of what every climber does there. There is a page here with the route info, otherwise Fixed Pin publishing has a free guidebook download on their website as well.

Comments: Even if the glaciers were not in that valley but all around it, it would be extremely hard for trees to be growing in that environment, and thus a complete lack of trees in the DL valley (which was a river valley before the end moraines plugged it up and diverted the WI river into its general present course). The glaciers covering WI in the last ice age were 100s of meters thick to a Km or two thick in some places. I would imagine that snow was covering the land 6-7-8 months out of the year in ... more >>

Comments: I just learned that Paul and Liz, long time developers at Silver will be updating this MP page soon as well as releasing a printed guide on or before the Climb UP fest this September. Great news as this place is deserving of a proper, up to date, error free guide for us climbers to all enjoy! I can't wait to get my hands on a copy and see this database updated as well.

Comments: Climbed the mountain early July 2016 and wrote up a blog post about it. We had a bit of early season conditions switching out of rock shoes and mountain books a few times, and a blizzard on top. Epic climb! Highly recommend for a North Face route in the range.

Comments: 4 years?!?!? I think the Statutes of Limitations has passed man. If I cared, I personally would no longer respect a red tag that old. I mean, thanks for bolting it and cleaning it and spending your resources for the community, but the clock never stopped ticking.

As far as the grade, I have done it in WI 4+ conditions into 5/6 conditions. I believe the earlier in the season you get on it, the easier it can be. The wall really i... more >>

Comments: You are right, the Guidbook embellishes just a weeee bit on lengths and grades of some of the routes, something that will hopefully get cleaned up if there is ever a next edition. OR, maybe, it was a heavy snow year when you were there last ;)

Comments: I climbed Book of Saturdays in Feb, 2016. I didn't find any cams, but did find a few nuts in the roof on the cave belay pitch, I left them there as they were frozen in place. In winter, the cave has some ice in it to take screws. WAY safer than in the summer as that rock is complete shit.
