Comments: At the large parking lot a couple hundred yards just past the climb, (where people park for the Amasa Back trail), on the downhill side of the road you will find a small hiking only sign. This is the walk up/off trail. About 40 minutes up and 30 minutes down. There is one spot on the way down where you have to be a careful (traverse above a bad run out) but other than that it is pretty casual.

Comments: Matthew S. beta is pretty much right on, however never found the need for either of the critical alien placements he mentioned as we used tricams instead. Large brass offsets and small alloy offsets are your best friends. We had 3 of each. A number 2 Camp ballnut under the roof makes turning the roof straight forward. From there you can place a good yellow alien around the corner. Eaiser to re-aid the traverse rather than jug it. I'd call it C2 but a route with experienced required as the cleani... more >>

Comments: We climbed this earlier this week in perfect temps. It is a classic route and other than the first pitch safe to lead. Luke's beta is excellent. Placed only a few cams on the entire route, green/blue and green/yellow offsets and a couple of red master cams. Tricams worked perfectly in the pockets including some of the larger sizes. We had 3 or 4 size 6 and 7 DMM brass/alloy offsets and we used them on every pitch. The pro was better than expected and the route wasn't nearly as difficult as I tho... more >>

Comments: Like Knossos this is a fun climb and definitely worth the effort to get there.

We climbed a slightly different line which shows on an old topo. Rather than climbing the first two pitches of Knossos, we climbed an independent line which started about 100 feet to the left at the base of a small gully, next to Riders in the Sky. I think this is the original line.

I'll try to scan the topos up to the site when I have time.

The topo at the Visitor Center shows it as C2 now. I'm particularly looking for updated rack information?

Thanks.
