Rock Hard Weekend
Feb 18, 2022 · Fun climb. Kudos to the developers for coming back to knock off some of the big stuff and adding a few more bolts just days ago. Still some loose rock to look out for, but then again, that’s something you should already be mindful of when climbing on EPC. Thought the crux pitch was closer to 10c, or at least on par with Excalibur. The upper pitches are a bit steeper and sustained than the climb people get it confused for, but now there are signs at the bottom to really tell the difference (this one is ‘not Excalibur’;) My thoughts on pitches below: P1 (5.9) 10 bolts P2 (10a) 10 bolts - still a little run out, watch for loose rock in sections on this pitch P3 (10c) 14 bolts - look for loose rock on this pitch, not as bad as previous comments as big death blocks have been pulled out, there are still some bigger blocks above and right of the belay at the end of this pitch. P4 (5.8+) 5 bolts - sustained climbing for all 5 bolts P5 (5.9) 10 bolts - super fun climbing on cool features, might be ideal to link P4 & P5 to keep belayer out of the range of fire if things were to come off. (P4 belay is slightly off route more to climbers left) Must climb with 70m rope as rappels are rope stretchers. Watch while rappelling last pitch as that’s the lowest angle pitch with rocks on ledges. Fun climbing, just be mindful and be safe out there! Hope this is helpful for those wanting to take on this adventure
