Comments: Hola Southern Oregon folks. I'm looking for a place that would be appropriate for sunny winter solo top roping in the 5.9-11a range. To me that would mean either easy access to the top or quickly aidable cracks.

Thank you!

Comments: Does anyone know which way the rock is oriented? Looking for some climbing on a 40' and sunny day.

Thank you.

Comments: Hey Doctor Dibbs:

When you solo'ed this route (80+ years ago with amazingly advanced photograpy or in the future? ;)), did you down reverse the route or rap? I was considering reversing it for more volume but don't recall from my roped ascent if it seemed like an easy down climb. I don't know if I'd want to solo down climb the dihedral but I guess I could go over the hump.

Thanks for the TR~

Comments: Hi Josh. I have mixed feelings about it. It was designed and installed by Rack Attack in Golden CO. The original implementation had the towers and crossbars on the upper section of the door as seen in the picture, which created too much leverage and eventually the rack separated from the door. Actually, shortly after this picture was taken. They were really good about redesigning and repairing it, with the lower towers mounted down near the license plate, but still with out obscuring it. It's ni... more >>

Comments: hello everyone just a quick question regarding cell service. I'll be visiting the st. George area and awaiting a job interview phone call. I want to be able to go climbing yet still reliably receive this important call. Any thoughts on areas with good climbing and reliable cell service? Thank you very much!

TL;DR

The fact that it hasn't fallen tells us nothing of the likelihood that it will fall.

I agree that trundling it would be a public service, although a tricky one to orchestrate. Perhaps two parties with radios, one on the ground in the parking and another on the route, hanging out at the top of the fourth waiting for the lot to be empty? I dunno, thinking aloud.

Comments: Any thoughts on living in a stealthy van in the Red Rock(s) Las Vega(s) area from Dec to Mar? Including but not limited to trailer park / parking space rental? I'm a travel nurse and on work days I usually stay in employee parking and am out of town for the remaining days. I've visited Vegas many times and stayed in the Wasteland that is the standard camping and at Black Velvet.

Thank you!

Comments: Wonderful route, but I agree that by no stretch of the imagination is it a hand and fist crack. There are jams here and there, but it is mostly a wide crack kept tame by stemming, face holds, and features within the crack. I was happy to place two #4 Camalots. From the ground, it's difficult to tell, but after 40 feet or so a small crack begins to open up on the right wall accepting small gear. Great route and thanks for the description and photos.

Comments: I've cross posted this to a few places...

I am looking to go to go to EPC from sometime between the 8th and 22nd of December 2009. I have gear, am experienced on long routes and these days can red point 11a. I drive well and have a background in guiding, and I'm an all around swell guy... I do not have a car so I looking for someone who may be driving from the south east (Florida, GA area.) I am in Tallahassee. Contact me for more details!

Comments: Did this with Matheuw Brown in the cold cold winter! Very fun but when it's an overcast winter day dacite feels like cast iron! The route feels wild and remote, even though your clipping bolts and I think you can see the mall from up there...
