Comments: That hold had a little flex in it 10+ years ago when I did the problem; it was bound to go eventually. Glad it left something!

Comments: FA Dave Graham, I think. Really height dependent; way easier than v11 if you're tall.

Comments: As the eponymous Jeremy, I can say there wasn't much thought put into this one; it was a screwing around in the woods 'think you can pull on these?' type of thing. I used the low foot only and I'm tall, so it was awkward.

Comments: I'd say the grade is somewhere between v6 and v-impossible, depending on one's wingspan. I've got a long reach and it feels about v7 to me.

Comments: Looks good to me; maybe it'll motivate someone to go out and try that roof and they can give a first-hand description of that section. It looked just brutally hard.

Comments: I don't think Dave added any gear; I belayed him a few times when he was working this and I tried the the first part of the route on toprope a few times, and the corner up into the roof is sporty to say the least. There was a fixed nut halfway up the corner, which feels like insecure 5.10, and then the sequence getting into the roof proper entails a very hard boulder problem with two poor knifeblades for pro. The climbing out the roof looked gut-wrenching, not to mention that rope drag... more >>

Comments: Some Bleausards do this problem with a over-the-head toe-hook up and right (where the tickmark is pointing).

Comments: It's not too bad to traverse over to the shiny two-bolt anchor for the Possessed and thus avoid the nasty fixed anchor entirely.

Comments: It seems odd to me to have two different names for the different starts when they get you to the same crux, and at virtually the same difficulty at that. I think you're right about the names though.

Location: New Hampshire : *Rumney : *Rumney Bouldering : The Pound : Pound Crack Boulder : Hardman Dentist (V9)
By: Jeremiah Johnson When: Feb 22, 2010

Comments: This is my favorite of the harder problems at the Pound. All the holds are pretty good, but they don't feel that way because of the positions you end up in. Good footwork and core strength required, plus you've got to go for it a little off the deck.

Comments: It looks good to me! I like these problems a lot - it's hard to beat having such high-quality boulders just sitting literally on the side of the road like this.

Comments: There is a variation to this problem which starts the same, but instead of going to the ear, jump to a slopey jug on the arete at v6 - v8 maybe (it's height dependent). And starting sitting on the left arete and heading up is v4 or so.

Comments: The sitstart begins seated under the crack to the right. The moves are pretty good, though the line is a bit contrived. v11- in my opinion.

Comments: This tends to be as far as most people go at Blair, but if you continue out this direction there are many more problems that have been done, including a classic v8ish arete, a very highball slab, and several more. Unfortunately I don't remember the names or locations very well or I'd add them. There's also potential for new problems here and there, though the gems have probably been nabbed already.

Comments: FA by Rio Rose, who I believe was the first to find the area now called Blair when he was out mountain biking one day and put up many of the problems here.

Comments: I spent a week or two here several years ago and bouldered a bit. In retrospect, I wish I'd explored the longer routes while I was there. In any case the bouldering in Ailefroide is really nice: the rock is really good granite, the lines are aesthetic, and the scenery is amazing. It's a good place to go without a guide and just explore.

Comments: The official rule on dogs at Pawtuckaway is that no dogs are allowed. The only place I've ever heard of anyone catching grief for having a dog in Pawtuckaway is at the Fire Tower (that's the only area I've ever seen a park official at, actually).

Location: New Hampshire : *Pawtuckaway : The Fire Tower : Slither (V7)

Comments: Judging from the picture, I think this might be a problem that Kurt Oian and I put up many years ago (summer of 2002, maybe?) back when we were first exploring the fire tower, though it's hard to tell for certain. It was so humid that day that we used rubbing alcohol to dry our hands off before climbing it. I'm glad to see it up here; it was a good one.
