Comments: Any hanger on any sleeved/threaded 5 piece bolt is subject to expansion and contraction. If you climb primarily bolted routes, a good piece of kit to have with you is a small crescent wrench. If you're not lugging around a trad rack, then a small wrench shouldn't be that big of a deal. I'm not disparaging anyone that doesn't do this, but there seems to be an awful lot of posts that state "loose nut" or "loose hanger". We all depend on fixed protec... more >>

Comments: Those blocks have been loose and marked since my first time there which was about 7 years ago. Though not the pinnacle of quality, loose rock is to be expected outside and is an objective hazard. Though it does detract somewhat from the quality of the route, Geisha Girl is still considered to be a classic. Where else are you going to find 95 feet of slab 5.8 that's bolted and climbs like this one? Regarding the "spiciness" of the route, the difficulty, by most is considered to ... more >>

Comments: There's a mixture of bolted anchors and non-permanent anchors. There's usually a couple of slings at the top of Happy Cracks. Quite a few of the bolted anchors share routes so keep that in mind. It's always a good idea to take some webbing and a couple rings or old biners with you in case you need to leave something.

Comments: If you want to climb the layback block and protect it, take a blue Big Bro with you. It is a bomber placement a little over halfway up the block, and can be placed from a solid stance.

Comments: I'm actually going to go the other way. Especially since this particular climber has visited the same route apparently and found the same loose hanger twice. If it was me, encountering loose hangers would be enough to make me carry a small crescent wrench, which I do because of such instances as the one described. It is as much the job of the climber as anyone else to know how the gear that is ultimately going to save their life works. That includes knowing something as s... more >>

Comments: 1.8 miles from the lot off 19 to Hippie Dreams. Did it in 30 flat. Don't ask me why. It was hot out and everyone I was with wanted to go swimming. I almost slept in and went hiking instead. That's how much I can't stand it. Sadly, things are not going to change. They're just going to get worse. I know your point wasn't just to gripe, but the things that you'd like to ha... more >>

Comments: A few new routes were developed there some time over the summer I believe. That's why they're still "rough" in comparison to neighboring routes. Look for them in the next volume of the NRG guidebook. With all new routes most people don't know much about them until they are published, so be safe, have fun, and use your own judgement.

Comments: I cleaned one out of there before. If you hang just above it and take two nut tools and attach the sling to you and keep outward force on it while you're cleaning, it'll come out. Eventually. The one I cleaned out of there took about 20-30 minutes. But it was raining and the route was soaked so it was a good exercise.

Comments: Ordinarily I wouldn't question a long time NRG veteran like you Dave, but this is definitely The Decameron. Pictured here is the 3rd and 4th bolts before the corner and traverse- lower on the route.

Comments: " if you're climbing this, get it done, enjoy it, and get out of the way. Some groups will setup hammocks and top rope on this route and tie it up for hours, which sucks when you have newish climbers who just hiked 4mi to climb. This crag is for everyone not just your youth group to use for 5 hours."

I agree except for one point: It's maybe 2 miles, not 4. I've made the hike in well under an hour before. Did you tactfully approach the group? What was their response? Did you ask if you coul... more >>

Comments: That route gets alot of people. Find a stance where you can jam below the big gap and plug a #3 just above it then paste your feet high with confidence.

Comments: You're not wrong Zach. I think numbering walls to sort isn't the best option. I've suggested a sorting option for sub areas within larger areas to allow for L to R and R to L just like routes within a sub area.

For now though, I have fixed the Bubba City map and accurately marked each sub area (wall) in the correct location on the map. I also sent you a PM. Hope this helps.
