Comments: Peregrine Traverse:
After taking classes up this route for the past 15 years I would recommend this route as a **** route for a solid 5.7 lead climber that is comfortable climbing between bolts and placing gear.
Someone who's comfortable with 5.6 multi-pitch as a 2nd in a team of three or 5.7 sport should have no problem following.
Each belay has two sets of belay anchors to accommodate parties going and coming.
The belay chains located in the middle of pitch-2 are for Sinister Footwear (5.1... more >>

Comments: As of October 30 the register shows 74 climbers on the Peregrine Traverse between June and November in-spite of the smoke this summer. We've found weekends to be a little crowded, by SW OR standards, but weekdays to be mellow. Week days are also your best option for renting the Lookout especially in the Fall, my favorite time for climbing Acker.
This summer we added rap chains on Maltese Falcon suitable for 30 m raps and a set or rap chains for the short rap from the top of Eagle's Dare ... more >>

Comments: Lone Rock has been blasting a road down to the South Comb

Based on my conversation with them three weeks ago, the road should be done about now and access open to climbers until they begin logging operations, possibly in the Spring.
The guy living in the trailer is their watchman. If he's there talk with him and let him know your climbing. An interesting guy to talk with. A good subject for breaking the ice would be to ask him about rappelling out of... more >>

Comments: Gates are currently locked at the Callahans.
Park at lower Touchstone gate and walk in.
If you need a place to camp call 541.670.0412, within 6 miles of Touchstone.
Climbing guide: Western Oregon Rock Climbing, vol 2: Umpqua available at While Away Books in Roseburg.
If there is a crowd when you are there Fantasy Island deserves more visits and was rebolted last Thursday.

Comments: So latest update for the Roseburg area.
Acker is closed do to lightening fires in the area.
Callahans are closed for fire season. Once fire season ends and the access opens back up to climbing we now have a place 6 miles from Touchstone where climbers from out of town can camp.
