Comments: "20 feet tall 10 feet wide and several feet thick."
Sounds like half the climbs in this area to me.

Very few West Rock climbs are without death blocks, it is not a typical sport crag.

Comments: At least the kids are outside playing in the woods instead of inside a car shooting up after robbing some old lady and breaking into a few cars right?

Is this place worth a visit some day or is it mainly a local crag?

Comments: All the TR/bouldering butt-shots I get on social media these days have twisted my brain to the point of possible no return. Personally I leave the FA line to the squirrels, lizards and birds that surely beat me to the FA.

We climbed just to the right of this route one day, I believe Morgan led the first part of this climb to get to the tree we TRed on. It did not look like a natural line or one worthy of finishing so I'm surprised to see it.

Mtn Proj is good for this obscur... more >>

Comments: Ken already dropped a little pee on just about every piece of rock within 100 miles, FA claims are sensitive around here with that crowd. More routes for the database I say. Plus all the "old timers" all say west rock is a choss pile not worthy of climbing.

Comments: I'm not too sure what toproping Dull Goldor into submission has to do with anything(besides spray?) but I've done many easier 5.7s in historically sandbagged areas so I agree with most folks that it deserves at least an 8 at the least. I also kind of agree with bmags that being able to keep its original rating is half the fun but it wouldn't matter much since CT's traprock is hardly more than a one time destination for anyone from out of the area.

Comments: Its 5.7 to all the locals who TRed it a thousand times before they ever thought of leading it, similar to 5.7s at all the old school crags. the woo, lol.

Comments: Good luck boys, dont forget your helmets, shoulder pads and double(triple) ropes. FYI last time I was there you could find a bolted anchor about ten ft below the prominent arete lip. That line had the most potential to not die on.

Comments: "The ownership of the land is a combination of State Forest, Guilford Land Conservation Trust (GLCT), Town of Guilford, and private ownership. All trails are maintained by the Westwoods Trails Committee of GLCT."

According to many maps and your website quite a bit is state forest land.

Comments: Google 36 Crane Hill Rd Mansfield CT for the exact spot to park, possibly this comment could be added to the crag description since the link provided is down and even the Fasulo book has a bad description of how to get there.

This place is great to bring kids or beginners and definitely worth a visit if you are nearby.
