Comments: There are currently 16 lead routes now on the sugarloaf with approx 12 more to go in this summer/fall. There are now some more challenging routes located on the North Face all of which have bolted belay anchors.

Comments: Paul Jones, Eric Zschiesche, and myself did a bunch of problems in this area in the 2001-2002 time period when the junkyard boulder was found. Still some highball projects to get sent for sure!

Comments: Had an off the off the couch day(first day of the year trad climbing) of 30 routes with Ben Mahaffey couple of weekends ago. Learned more about the 50 or even 100: nutrition and fitness are essential. We started off great with 10 routes in by 8:30 with a 6:45 am start. Having a morning midday and early evening meal/ good calories is a good idea. 50 in a day would be rad and 100 in a weekend HUGE!

Comments: Led this last week after a number of years not being on it. Fun, thin, decent gear with brass offsets and one offset cam which makes it less run out. Good route! Was one of Tom Coleman's favorites I remember...

Comments: The sugarloaf has been getting a facelift in the last few months with a number of new top anchors being installed as well as new lead lines. There are now 7 lead routes on the formation and 16 top anchors. New anchors on the summit make for an easy rappel.
More routes are being added this fall. Granted the climbing is pretty easy, this is one of the better places to learn beginner to intermediate skills and the top is pretty cool!

Comments: The big goal is 50 routes in a day. I have been working on the logistics and have a solid plan. I did 28 routes in 5 hours last summer and feel with the right combo of light crowds, good weather and the right partner 50 is totally doable… For history sake, what is the most ground up routes climbed in a day at DL?

Comments: This years goal, for me at least, lead 50 routes in a day!

Another one I have thought of which popped in my head when we first did the West bluff towers, was as many towers as possible in the park, east, west, & south! Go get it!!!

Comments: Back when I was growing up in Baraboo, a number of friends and I used to get dropped off and go on multi-day trips on the south bluff. On one of those trips we hiked this drainage from top down and found it extremely beautiful and peaceful. We returned many times and even had a nice primitive camp up there in which we called it "Paradise". Not that I am advocating for this activity these days, but I have very fond memories of us hiking up there and hanging out next to the little seasonal strea... more >>

Comments: I remember do a couple problems from the back of the roof and climbing out around 2001 if this is the same boulder. It is steep for a good body length then a lip encounter and transfer to lower angle moves..Nice to see this area getting attention. I remember a couple other decent boulders as well.

Comments: How are the rap anchors on this for descending Phantom? Is a bolt needed/helpful or are the anchors fairly new? Looks like the FA was 2007, is that correct? any info would be great!

Comments: We looked at this last week. Looked cool. There is a ton of classic highballs to be done here. We put up a number of new problems as well. Fun are with a good amount of shade as well. One problem, second hand smoke is really good. I'l try to post some pics...
