Comments: There are two that start from that ledge at the Ewephoria base.. or at least one that starts then splits into two rather quickly.

Just to confirm (and for folks heading up this way) this one [posted above] is the right one of the two, correct? If i remember correctly, the left one ends p1 just left of the crack exit, wanders around left of the buldge then follows a right-leaning crack up a ways, around a corner, through some weirdness and anchors just right of a leafy ledge. Then one more p... more >>

Comments: All that and I didn't actually answer your question. Kimberly and I started that area about 3 yrs ago but a couple routes needed cleaning and some moving of bolts, etc. Hence the delay in posting them up. So yea.. relatively new.

Comments: Thanks Luke. Kim and I were trying to get a few things finished up there before going live w it and we finally made it out a cpl wnkds back. If she would stop making babies, we would have been done with it years ago. I was getting pm's and emails asking about it so I'll be putting the topo up as soon as I can get it scanned in. There are 8 routes - all between 9 and 10c. Two take gear for the 1st half. Light rack will do just fine.

Glad to see I was able to make your topos accurate finally-guess you can take that claim off your work.

Ouch. Really? Guideline #1 perhaps?

Comments: Thanks for the notice Kevin! :)

How about we move the last rap station? Seems like a better option than leaving ropes up there to rot and trash the place up. Fwiw, I'm pretty sure a rope is visible from much further away than a couple painted rap hangers.

For the last pitch clip up the 3 bolts and then just go way over the top to belay. No cams or gear needed as you will be laying on the summit to belay.

Just out of curiosity, what would the plan be if you needed to escape a belay without an anchor? With a 1-2" horizontal crack directly behind you, is there any technical reason to not slam a couple cams in or is it just a time saving/speed thing?

Comments: 5.8, LOL! And ppl call ME a sandbagger. The traverse left of the 2nd bolt is protected well by the bolt but a 5.8 rating is just asking for hatemail and/or injured climbers. I pulled it clean but not by much. After that, yes, there's a heady runout on easier ground but if you're comfortable on 'chise runouts, you probably won't mind much. It's your follower that'll be looking at a big swinging fall if they come off at the crux, just after cleaning the 2nd bolt.

Comments: Spoiler beta: We tunneled under the rock he's straddling here and didn't rope up until we were standing on top the boulder above his head in the photo. Can't say the climbing he's on now is necessarily worth it since we didn't really cover it but it didn't seem like it at the time. That "pitch" (for lack of a better term) ended up being about 12 feet of actual climbing and one piece of gear in our case.

Comments: Glad you all are ok Climberz!

Could this be a mixed metals/galvanic corrosion scenario? Fairly big difference between the rust levels on hanger and bolt. Possibly galvanized or stainless hanger and carbon steel bolt?

Comments: I am perplexed as to how all you skinny bastards are fitting through that wedge. I got my fat ass stuck, shredded my shirt, broke my sunglasses and scratched my arms all to hell before finally getting back out and I'm only 170 pounds and just shy of 6 feet tall.
