Comments: Did this with EBs and it felt very exciting. Came back after sticky rubber was introduced - what a difference. Great route.

Comments: J,

My fault, it seemed obvious that grabbing the tree was the way to go so I didn't mention it.
By the way, last year at Squamish I stayed at Sea to Sky. Despite the grand sound of the name it's just someone who rents room in her house; cheap, comfortable. On Airbnb.

Comments: Not one of the worst.

Location: New York > The Gunks > The Trapps > i. High E > Lakatakissima (5.10b)

Comments: The first pitch is not of the quality of Directississima or Ridiculissima, but I have done it several times and it is worth at least two stars.

Location: New York > The Gunks > The Trapps > h. The Arrow Wall - CCK > Proctoscope (5.9+)

Comments: The third pitch is completely overgrown and that's too bad. The climbing is different from the usual 'Gunks fare.

Location: New York > The Gunks > The Trapps > h. The Arrow Wall - CCK > Deep Lichen (5.8 PG13)

Comments: Pitch 1 is covered with lichen and not climbable in its current condition. Unfortunate; it's nice face climbing.

Comments: Walked by this earlier in the year. As with many of the climbs in these sections of the Nears, this hasn't been done in a while and is starting to get overgrown.

Comments: I also don't find the gear great below the roof.

When your chin is level with the roof, reach out left and you can get a good cam.

Location: New York > The Gunks > The Near Trapps > d. Harvest Moon to the End > Scrambled Legs (5.10+)
By: Dana Bartlett When: Dec 28, 2014

Comments: Bill Ravitch and I looked at this after doing Muriel's Nose. We planned to come back in a few days and do it, Ivan was bit quicker. He told us that he pulled his calf muscle while heel hooking the roof, hence the name Scrambled Legs

Comments: I tried leading it. 5.7 solo to the roof, then very small stoppers in a horizontal below the roof - an unpleasant fall if you didn't make it.

Comments: Regarding the previous comment:

Did you have small cams? I can't imagine you didn't. I have done this route 3-4 times and I always get a decent Metolius blue that is at knee level as the crux is pulled.

Location: New York > The Gunks > The Trapps > i. High E > Insuhlation (5.9)
By: Dana Bartlett When: Sep 24, 2014

Comments: The description is spare (in Dana's customary fashion) but since he mentions the shallow open book I think he is correctly describing Insuhlation not Teeny Face.

As usual, Seth is correct.

Comments: Some 70s are longer than others, I suppose. We had room to spare when we abseiled from the tree.

Comments: After the overhang on pitch three you can go right instead of left and do the roof that is part of G Forces. Pretty wild 5.9.

Comments: I have to go with Seth here. I found a place after the roof for a small cam, and I didn't need to work hard or stretch too far.

Location: New York > The Gunks > The Trapps > i. High E > High Exposure (5.6)

Comments: High Exposure was rated 5.7 in the 1964 guide. But it is 5.6.

Location: New York > The Gunks > The Trapps > c. Frog's Head - the Arch > Sultana (5.8 PG13)
By: Dana Bartlett When: Sep 6, 2013

Comments: I've done both Scungilli and Sultana.
Fine routes, your resume is incomplete if you haven't done them.
Yesterday's Lemonade, Raspberry Sundae, Beyond the Fringe, Sheep Thrills - people walk right by these on their way to what? The McCarthy Wall, High E., etc.
I don't get it.

Comments: This climbs much better than it looks. Aside for the last bit - which didn't seem difficult - there are plenty of opportunites for protection.
