This rock is home to Stoney Point's newest route/top rope/boulder problem. It's unbelievable that this boulder's plum route hadn't been climbed till recently. The left arete, tentatively named "

Comments: Doing this climb as a TR would be an absolute travesty. So many better things to TR than to come to this CLASSIC shallow water solo/boulder problem and to defile it with a TR. What makes it amazing is the chance to take a little plunge!

The tradition I was shown is to go there with a group of friends and everyone goes into isolation (looks away) while each person tries. Once you fall in or send you can watch but everyone else has to go for the PURE onsight. Friends who don't want to try ... more >>

Comments: Yeah! I just got the new guidebook by Alan Moore and Ian McIntosh and it has me psyched to get up there and do some exploring.

Does anyone know if the road is open? Guy at Nomad's Idyllwild didn't know for sure but said he would think it was open since there is no snow... Ranger station is apparently closed Thursdays...

Anyone have an idea?

Comments: Hoooooo man! Let me start by saying this has got to be the coolest new route in Ojai, maybe even Ventura County, that's been put up in the last decade.

5 minutes from the car, 3 pitches, consistent difficulty, line is almost dead straight, bolted anchors, sick exposure, a cool crack that takes gear, amazing summit. What more could you ask for!? Even just the first pitch makes a great new addition to the area.

I had the pleasure of leading all 3 pitches with none other than the man himsel... more >>

Comments: Well I followed my friend, Sam.F, on this route a few years ago...We were all like "A single dyno move rated 5.13 back in the day? Should be no problem for a couple dyno loving gym rats from the new age........."

Psshhhhhhhhhh! Big surprise, shit was hard and neither of could really do it. In the end I even had trouble following and pulling over the lip even while hanging from the hold you would dyno to and pulling on the damn quickdraw just to get over the lip! Was a fun day watching Sam hu... more >>

Comments: Yup, big time! Which is why I did my research. Not in ANY guidebook (which by itself doesn't mean much I admit), I'm closely connected with people who have been climbing at the Point for 30 years who say it's never gone, PLUS it was obvious when working the line that it hadn't been done, because of the vast amount of choss we pulled off, which anyone who would have done it prior would have HAD to pull off. Not to mention the thing is fucking STOUT!

Also, I'm currently making a documentary ... more >>
