Comments: Has anyone actually ever done the problem as described?

Meaning: from the huge jug at mid-height (what everyone is hanging off of in all the photos above) and dynoing to anywhere along the top of the bluff?

I tried again last fall on a seemingly very low gravity day and just ended up with a bruised heel for my efforts.

Comments: Nice and clean for the comp. We had a half dozen on a send train yesterday after scrubbing. Hard but very satisfying V4, IMO.

Neighbors must have finally complained loudly enough.

Comments: From Gokul:

Description

This route is a minor variant of Watermarks (and a squeeze job). It starts just to the right of the regular start and goes up between the two black water streaks. After a few tenuous moves, you hit the good ledgy hold on Watermarks about 12' up. From here, you follow Watermarks or Watermarks Direct, or some combination of both.

The starting sidepulls used by Watermarks Direct are about 3 ft to the right of the start ... more >>

Comments: James, that has been suggested -- I would be pleased to make that change/merge. However, I don't usually do these changes (delete lines, merge lines that are posted separately, etc) without the permission of the user who posted the "variation" (yes Michael I know you don't want to use that word for your line), since this website is user-generated and the quickest way to piss users off is to alter their content without asking. I also don't want to be policing these events, but will do whatever ... more >>

Comments: As I've discussed with a number of you on seperate occasions in person or by email, my interest in this is mostly to keep MP a clean and user-friendly resource. IMO there is too much clutter that is confusing and unproductive in the bouldering sections for WI. Randy's mentioning of the Alpine Club boulder is a prime example of difficult-to-navigate clutter. IMO sit starts or variations should *usually* be listed as a comment under the original problem. Shades of grey though, sometimes adding ... more >>

Comments: Alright, now I'm confused. Ian is not listed as the FA of basilisk. Peter is. I could reassign the problem to Peter and take Ian out of it. Ian is actually out climbing right now, rather than posting about climbing. Lucky bastard.

Regarding "matched" -- it's easy to know what that means on a problem with a jug start, like fat pants or sandstone violence. On a long rail, what does matched mean? Hands have to be touching? Hands have to be within 2" of each other? 4"? 6"? Bouldering is fairly arb... more >>

Comments: Is the adjoining land public property?

"There is no truth in a commonly heard statement that the State of Minnesota owns a
definable strip of land, around every lake and every stream or that this strip of land gives the
general public the right to walk along the shoreline. This is not the case. The general rule of
thumb is that the shoreline property owner’s rights follow the water level up and down and the
general public has no right to use the shoreline or a dry lake bed unless the adj... more >>

Comments: Regarding the difficulty discrepancy: using the crack is V2ish but eliminating it seemed every bit a V5. Thus the "V4+" rating. As an eliminate, it's pretty damn fun to avoid that crack altogether if you are bored. Likely a Steve Schultz FA as the eliminate, long ago.
