Comments: You must be thinking of some other arete? This one looks very hard. Bald with only tiny friable edges for holds. Not to mention scary tall. Highly doubt it has been climbed.

Comments: Ohhh, the picture helps things. This is not what I thought it was. My bad! I was referring to the tall dihedral in upper emancipation, the description for this problem kind of matched. Do you know which I am talking about? Who did that?

Comments: I don't know, maybe 3 or 4 years ago? There was chalk remnants in the crack then.

Comments: I climbed this a few years ago along with the V4 next to it. I was told Dave Asscherik did these? Beautiful line.

Comments: Bolt and anchor on first pitch replaced by BHCC 6/23/17. If rapping from first pitch anchor; it's equalized to the NW side.

Great route, but the gear above each bolt is not worth putting in.

Comments: We had a helluva time locating the first two bolts. The first hanger was spun in a way that made it hard to see and matches the rock color pretty well. The second, up and right, is slightly obscured by features. The pitches after that were more straightforward.

Also, was able to find a couple of bomber pieces (.5 and .1/.2 offset) just down and left from the first bolt. Takes the ground-fall potential out but was still scary reaching out to clip the bolt.

Love this kind of climbing. Very simil... more >>

Comments: The new route on Phallus is one of Piana's he did a couple years ago. Hard Years 5.8+? Starts off chockstone and is primarily bolts. Really great line! Then there is a direct start with a couple bolts and gear called Short Arm Inspection 5.10. Also Piana's, but not as good. I'll add them soon...

Comments: Yes it is 40m not 40'. Can barely TR with an 80m rope. There is now a set of anchors for this route, just below the summit.

Comments: Spoke with Nate Postma a while back about his route and apparently it was not documented correctly. This is actually a 3 pitch climb! Guidebooks only describe the 3rd pitch. Which makes sense, since there is a nice looking line leading up to the 3rd with bomber anchors. The 2nd pitch, I believe, has a large flake that looks and sounds sketch. But Postma says they couldn't get it come. I'll update this route once I climb the full line.

Comments: Excellent line, one of the best in the park! No need for the R rating, or even PG13...Beginning is thin for gear, but it is there. Bomber placements are all over this route.

Comments: All hardware replaced by BHCC on 7/17/15. First set of anchors were removed. It now goes all the way to a huge belay ledge. Bring one finger or hand size cam for the horizontal.

Comments: Sweet! Yeah, Tony is putting in the last bolt here. Then as he climbed on, the very crystal he was hooking on broke under his foot.

Comments: We recently did the Blue line. V3/4? Climbed on the arête the whole way.

The Red line looks real hard. Didn't try.
