TO TELL YOU A LITTLE ABOUT MYSELF.....
I JUST STARTED TAKING TO ROCK CLIMBING IN JAN 2009 AFTER being afraid of heights for to many years. As I spend more and more time (almost every weekend) on the ropes and the rocks, the fear seems to disappear. NOW A YEAR LATER, my experience has grown quickly and my expectations continue to grow for myself. I got some great experience with Matt and Darryl through Sylvan Rocks Climbing & Guiding and truly loved the time I spent with them in July. They taught me the basics, but they also taught me that CLIMBING IS MORE THAN JUST ROPES AND ROCKS. Matt was probably the best teacher/guide Sylvan Rocks has and cannot wait to take the intermediate training with them. I love being out there bouldering in rock maze, climbing in the Sylvan Lake area, and the rocks in the South Seas Area and Breezy Point. I have taken a great love to this sport and past time and have met a number of great climbers in this area. As the rocks continue to challenge me both physically and mentally, I will undoubtedly continue to love the world they challenge me in. Whether it be in the Sylvan Lake area or the Mt. Rushmore Area, My goals remain the same: CHALLENGE EVERY ROCK, AND SOONER OR LATER, EXCEPT EVERY ROCK'S CHALLENGE. A great friend/climber once taught me something about climbing that I will remember forever: It's all good !
The next chapter for me in climbing starts very soon as I am already tired of the winter snow. I started climbing at the Athletic Club just to continue my learning and climbing work outs over the South Dakota winter. I have a number of ROCKS I would like to climb ranging from 5.2 to 5.9 as I lack the skills for some harder areas of climbing. I was also taught by that same great friend/climber that YOU NEED TO TAKE BABY STEPS ON THE ROCK IN ORDER TO TAKE THE GIANT LEAPS TO THE SUMMIT. The Rapid City Area and the Black Hills has some of the greatest climbing in the world and it has some of the nicest climbers as well. Thanks Collin, Jake, Matt and Darryl (from Sylvan Rocks Climbing and Guiding). You Guys are the greatest.....
THE NEXT chapter in my life has began as this summer I WILL CLIMB AT A 5.10 TO 5.11 LEVEL. I have started to overcome the problems of confidence and being one handed including building a device to "improvise" for my lack of fingers.....
