Comments: The first bolt hanger has been removed. I think a yellow metolius or a .5 camalot will work there.

Comments: KB has this one at 11a, Watford has it at 11c. Considering Poison Ivy is 11b, 11c is the more appropriate. Also it's almost as hard as Krieg Crack.

Comments: This is full value. Good enough pro, slightly less than good enough quality rock, great position, particularly the traverse beneath the roof. After topping out there are quite a few choices for rapping, but we put a sling and a couple biners around a couple trees climbers left of the top out.

Comments: The first 25 feet or so of this route, where you climb a kind of buttress, is quite good. After that not so much. You traverse licheny 5.3 to 5.4. I stopped at the tat and lowered, just shy of the top. Where the line is drawn in the KB guide and on the beta photo here would probably be a lot harder than 5.8.

Comments: This is more than likely the route the guide book lists as Beer 30. "Stoke" is right where the indicator for the route is in the KB guide and matches the description. There is potential for a possible new line between this one and Lillian's arete, but I'll bet it's been done, too.

Comments: There's a block larger than a microwave near the top of the route that will come off if you pull on it. There is now a chalk "x" on it. It's right below the roof with the anchor, above the fixed nut described in the route description above. When climbing this route, pull down, not out! The anchor was mostly cleaned, someone left one nut. I left another one. Don't fall on this route after clipping the fixed ... more >>

Comments: If you look closely you can see some threads completely corroded. Uninspiring to say the least.

Comments: We got a black tri-cam stuck yesterday off the ledge below the pin. I felt pretty good about the gear, I got a couple more good-enough pieces before clipping the pin.

Comments: There are no big trees above this climb, it's best to angle over to the Green Arrow anchors to finish. And as Khowe765 says, the guidebook has it at 5.10, Whoever added this route put 5.8. I thought it was 5.9.

Comments: This route offers the easiest decent of the Sun Ledge.

Comments: So the top is the crux, for sure. If you go to the lip a few feet right of the anchors it feels like .10a.

Comments: Apparently there's a bit of a resurgence there lately, although last I checked around 3 or so years ago access was as tricky as ever. Although I don't think anyone has been shot at....

Comments: I bouldered with Springs locals who did a lot of the FAs here, and they called this the Dinosaur Boulder. Not to be confused with the Sleeping Rock, which kind of looks like a dinosaur. We climbed three different lines on this boulder.

Comments: Note, this route is not 12 pitches, as indicated. Also, if my 60m rope is cut a little long (I haven't measured it) the route is 110 ft at the most. If you lower with a 60m, you can climb down the poison-ivy covered tree to get down the last few feet.

Comments: This route is not the one locals call Beach Ball--that is Ivy League. It's the one with the roundish bouldery protrusion. And it is easier than this one, Poison Ivy.

Comments: So I was always told by locals that the dome above Ute Pass, which I'm seeing called Barney's Dome, is called the Throne. I went up there around 2002 or so to climb it. The obvious line (the dihedral) is around 5.10, the crux is a roof move w/an RP as your last piece. It was a bit lichen-y.

Comments: Hey Blake,
I led it on gear. I used cams and tri-cams, and one nut down low. Nothing bigger than a number 1 camalot is necessary. It was even funner than usual!

Comments: At some point since I did it last (ten-some odd years ago) someone has put in a pin about 10 feet up. I would be curious to know if someone has fallen on it: it faces right, the direction of the fall one would take if you didn't make the first clip.

Comments: I made the second ascent shortly after Lee showed me how to do it. The Hayman fire did not affect this boulder.
