Comments: Like teresamatrix, my partner and I went up a crack on the upper right side of the arch and didn't traverse out right more. I was thinking this might be the Billy Sheers roof variation, too. Definitely was not the 5.5 moves I expected!

Comments: It's easy to forget how big this climb is. Then you see a picture like this.

Comments: It was pretty sketchy over on the left. I led the one on the right and set up a TR for the one on the left. The middle section was slush covered slab. Not ideal. The upper part was pure plastic, though.

Comments: I had a 70m rope and couldn't reach the bottom on rappel. I had to setup a belay on a ledge about 10' to the left for my friends on TR.

The ice was pretty thin or non-existent for the easier slab portion on 2/27/2013.

NOTE: I'm pretty sure this is the climb I'm referencing but it was my first time climbing in the Catskills.

Comments: This makes it look waaaay steeper than it really is. Nice shot though.

Comments: Can easily be done in two pitches with a 60 or 70m rope. A 70m rope gets you to the ground for the rappel... no need to double up.

Comments: I'm not sure what area these routes are in but I'd like to add the following:

1. Cliptoris 5.7
2. Never Say Never 5.8
3 & 4. The two 5.9's just below Cliptoris

They're pretty decent routes.

Comments: I'm trying to find out the names of some climbs here... maybe someone has a history book they can tap into since it looks like the State killed climbing here.

1. 'Unknown Sport #2' 5.6: walk up to base of cliff, walk right, short bolted route in right facing corner.
2. 'Unknown Slabby Sport #1' 5.7: Just before right facing corner mentioned above. Bolted.
3. 'Unknown Easy Dyno' 5.6: walk up to base of cliff, walk left to buggy bolted route with small mantle towards top. Dyno up and ... more >>

Comments: From a follower's perspective, the grade may be a bit contrived because the moves are over with so quickly... but the leader may feel much differently.

Great variation to Gambit.

Comments: FYI: If you click on "Aerial Photo" and zoom all the way out you'll realize the aerial photo isn't of Mt. Colden... but somewhere in south Kazakhstan (Placement on map is approximate +44° 7' 36.84", +73° 57' 37.08")

Enjoy.

Comments: words can't express how much i love this route... do it in 4 pitches, it's quick, saves rope drag and it's a fun short 5.9 pitch.
