Favorite Climbs: My favorite thing is to find new areas and new routes.

More information:
I'm the owner and manager of Vertical Adventures Rock Climbing School, based at Joshua Tree National Park, which I founded in 1983.

My guidebook Best Climbs Joshua Tree National Park features 252 of Joshua Tree's best and most popular routes, available at Nomad Ventures climbing shop in the town of Joshua Tree, or you can download a kindle version from amazon.com.

My Best Climbs Tahquitz and Suicide Rocks guidebook is available at Nomad Ventures climbing shop in Idyllwild, or you can download the kindle version at amazon.com.

I'm also the author of several instructional textbooks, including: Toproping, Rappelling, and coauthor of Rock Climbing: The AMGA Single Pitch Manual, which is the textbook for the American Mountain Guides Association single pitch instructor program.

I collaborated with John Long on several books: How To Rock Climb (photography), Climbing Anchors, and the Climbing Anchors Field Guide.

My latest book Advanced Rock Climbing: Mastering Sport and Trad Climbing is scheduled to be published in May 2018, and includes an excellent chapter on crack climbing technique written by Peter Croft.
