Comments: It is a true old school classic. Nice to see it is getting some traffic if I can call it that.

Comments: Pretty sure Ben Burnham put in most of these bolts or was involved so I doubt they are 5/16ths and since I have done them all I would have noticed if they were. I have replaced dozens of older bolts on this mountain and have yet to replace any of the modern bolts I wouldn't have and sometimes did fall on prior to replacing them. 1/4 inch button heads are bad 3/8ths split shanks are bad as are 5/16ths but rarely. Go Climb have fun don't worry. CASA is worki... more >>

Comments: The crack to the left of old school executioner was done before Dave Deschamps, Bob Kerry and I did it. We mistakenly thought we had done the FA. Steve never did Stiletto. I talked to him about the crack and he never mentioned the arete except to say he had looked at it.

Comments: Thought I might try and solo this, but talk of a dirty finish had me downclimb rather than commit to the final 10 feet. Still enjoyed the mental game and am glad of my choice after looking at it from above. I am from Arizona and was surprised there wasn't a person out here. I wish there had been so I could have bummed a TR from them.

Comments: Lots of people have yet to learn all the lingo. No big deal.at least Jim both didn't point it out in front of a lot of people! Oh wait.I can assure you he wasn't trying to belittle you just trying to get you on the correct page. In person he would have looked at you with a wry grin and said it in a tone that let you know that. Have a good weekend.

Comments: Please don't use any cable draws up there. I have read that they wear out as the cable takes whipper after whipper after whipper which these draws get. Just get up there and tape the biner back on so it doesn't do that again. There is a whole discussion about how the pins were fucked up when these draws were added. I really suggest you tape that biner back on.

Comments: Any data to support the claim that cable draws last longer than chain draws. I have never heard of a chain draw wearing out but I have read about cable draws fraying. A couple of chain draws would be nice.

Jbak why don't you ask Cres if he cares, I bet he doesn't.

Comments: According to my tick list I did this with you JJ. I remember using the crack I think and not being able to clip the bolt and running it out. Two weeks ago I did it staying left in the dihedral which was also fun and in the 12- range.

Comments: Or, you could tie one end of your rope to the big fat bolt on the main face just before you start wishing you had a rope, and use that as a hand line. You will still have enough rope to lead this route or Hadaptation and lower off.

Comments: The approach being "steep and brushy" is for the area below Ridgeline not the Boneyard. The approach to the Boneyard is neither.

Comments: Hey 20KN I totally agree. We used to use them for a short time. Perhaps if you get some folks together to raise some funds and purchase quicklinks and Mussies or or chain and old carabiners those who did the work or some other local will fix them up as we do here on Mt. Lemmon.

Comments: Totally changes the finish on this very short route by negating the last move. Standard draw or trad draws not opened up and you would have to make the last move to the anchors before clipping. A good safe whipper can be taken if you fail to make the move to the clipping holds.

Comments: The screw gate on that locking biner was purposely diabled as people tend to lock them which is unnecessary. This leads to the gate bein stock in the locked postion. Rapping off of chains because a screw on a gate doesn't work or looks mangled seems way more dangerous than lowering off of a Mussy Hook and a biner that has a fully functioning gate. You might want to search dropped gear on this site.

Comments: Added a 3 or 4 bolt 10+ direct start to this route while ago. Pretty fun and powerful. Starts about 15-20 feet down gully from 96 Degrees in the Shade.
