Yosemite National Park has yearly closures for Peregrine Falcon Protection March 1- July 15. Always check the NPS website at nps.gov/yose/planyourvisit/… for the most current details and park alerts, and to learn more about the peregrine falcon, and how closures help it survive. This page also shares closures and warnings due to current fires, smoke, etc.
Description
This new addition to the main south facing wall at Puppy Dome takes a mostly independent line between Do or Fly and Grenade Launcher. The route was originally cleaned and top-roped with all but a body length freed around 2016 by Andy Puhvel and Matt Ciancio. Then in 2026 it was bolted by Puhvel, Sharma, and Chase Leary, and freed by Sharma.
The route starts in the obvious orange corner which is the actual lower crack line of Horseshoes and Handgrenades (this may have been the original start which Dale Bard and John Bachar did back in the day, but nearly everyone now starts on the easy 5.9ish jugs out right to approach Horseshoes and Grenade Launcher). Follow this leaning orange crack (5.11a) to the 5 bolt arching seams. Crux is between bolts 2-4. Nails small hold bouldering leads to a 5.12 finish, and the last move shares the final body length of Do or Fly pulling over the roof. The anchor is also shared.
