Description Suggest change

This is an engaging and worthy 35m route that climbs to the very top of the wall. An intermediate anchor allows the climber to lower-pull-lower with a 60m rope.

When climbed as intended as one full 35m pitch the route is known Life Aquatic. The old Dog Food alignment has been lost to time and obscurity. Technical, powerful, and long, the route has multiple crux sections and requires a focused redpoint.

The start may be in the water when the river is high. A note regarding the comment in Hyer's book "A sport belay for halfway up provides escape for the traditionally challenged. Those seeking a 5.11 mountaineering ending should continue to the second set of anchors": this comment is not applicable and was likely offered for the sake of humor. It was not literally sought out and climbed as a traditionally protected 5.11 mountaineering pitch. Bolts all the way for 35m. Rock should be reasonably clean and free from loose hazards .

Also, the two fixed chain draws are to allow the leader to clip their strand of rope into directly on the clean and lower- so they end up back down at the riverside belay and not in the river from the overhanging and traversing nature of the second half of the route.

Location Suggest change

Right 10 ft from the obvious clean crack Orcstone. Belay from the sandy bank of the river. Can access this climb mid-summer/fall when the river levels tend to be lower.

Protection Suggest change

Bolts.
