Description Suggest change

An underrated, overlooked route with an undeserved reputation for being runout and scary. Put up by Phil Heller, who performed many bold ground-up ascents at the New, it was indeed very spicy at the start, but a bolt was added after Mike Artz decked while repeating the route.

Begin by finding your way up a maze of sharp, crispy crimps to the bolt. A few lock-offs between horizontal breaks and more sharp edges lead to gear placements on decent holds. At a large shelf, traverse right to a crack and stance where the route joins with its direct start, Thor (5.12d). Follow the crack up to the anchor.

Location Suggest change

On the face right of Portly Gentleman's Route, and just left of the crack which is the start of Thor.

Protection Suggest change

1 glue-in bolt.
Gear to .75, with an emphasis on tiny gear. 00 cams or ballnuts may find a use here. Small stoppers also useful.
Shiny 2-bolt anchor.
