Jewel of the Nile is the newest and wildest addition to Castlewood’s growing roof renaissance, taking the most commanding line out the mythical Suncave Amphitheatre on a fantastic assortment of gymnastic cobbles. Offering harder moves and crazier sequences than even the mighty Kronos, this shockingly-natural (though undeniably dirty) route only stays in the realm of mortals by two desperately-needed rests. Crawlers be warned; no amount of kneebar trickery will save you here… get ready for constant dynamic thuggery over its gob-smacking 45 horizontal feet. Warning: crack gloves are necessary!

The action begins immediately! Pre-clip the second bolt then decide whether to go left with a powerful dyno (higher quality) or right with some flowy tension moves. Both end with an involved mantel that is sure to leave suitors grateful for the lay-down rest. (V5)

After taking a nap, execute a few steep compression moves to a reinforced jug at the lip. A powerful, board-esque sequence quickly follows, culminating in a desperate throw to a ledge. Pull through a few more long moves, then figure out how to get it all back in the hole (V7).

Now the adventure really begins!

Navigate the sea of giant cobbles via an exciting combo of slaps and foot cuts before transferring into the crack with some mind-boggling beta (V10). Decipher how to unwind, then thrutch desperately out the roof on flaring jams (V7). All that’s left is a slopey, southern-style mantel, which is sure to cause a few wobblers. Topping out is mandatory!

Jewel of the Nile easily solidifies itself as another must-do for the Colorado roof climber. While the sandy middle section and big rests keep it just shy of classic status, the fun factor and stellar movement are unparalleled anywhere else on the Front Range. Grab your jammies, hit the bicep curls, and get ready to log some air time!

Note: the 1st bolt of the left variation can be clipped to help work the crux. Do not clip this on the redpoint unless you want to be sandbagged by drag.
