Description
FA Belayer : Tyler Fox
Description : Initial angle is about 80-70 degrees or 20-30 degrees depending which way you measure from 90 degrees. So not very steep but the holds aren't great in certain areas. Climb left of the boulder on the ground. Start with your hand in a slotted crimp. Deadpoint out left to a rounded crip, match the crimp. Bump your hand up to a hole that you can use for both hands. I go right hand first then cross the left hand over as sort of an undercling in the hole. With left hand undercling/side-pull move your right hand up to the rectangular hueco divot. Stand up into the hueco starting with your right foot while leaving left foot low. Obtain a good jug with an optional knee bar in the small in-cut, hueco, from the kneebar and jug move into the first initial crux where a left foot heel toe cam makes moving to a small three-finger-one-pad blocked crimp easier. Move into two better holds but still slightly sloping jug pockets. Obtain the small bulging roof rail section, traverse right for two hand moves on the rail at the small bulge/roof until you get to a side-pull just above. There is an optional beta that uses an intermediate three finger-half-pad crimp and another bad hold just above the 5th bolt. I opted against this and instead move left into the better holds while still below the bulge. Negotiate the bulge which leads you onto a small ledge, not quite big enough for sitting but good enough to stand on, then continue up easier terrain to the anchors. Slightly harder than neighboring route. Two initial cruxes, first between bolt 3 and 4, second is negotiating the bulge on bolt 5 between bolt 4 and 6. When doing crux 1 I use right hand at the sloped jug right next to bolt 3 left foot heel hook and left hand at the jug below bolt 3 which allows me to go static to the 3-finger blocked one-pad crimp.
Name : I like this name because of the song by the band Kansas. I also think that although life can be tough and challenging you have to be tough and challenge life back with the same tenacity. Life is sometimes unfair, unexplainable, and reprimanding, although your way of responding to these challenges is what builds your character. Your actions are ultimately what will make you a better, stronger and smarter person. If you respond to challenge with fear, distress and self pity it only becomes harder to conquer. You must fight fire with fire. There should be a passionate spirit and desire within yourself to become the person you ultimately yearn to be. An internal flame. Be happy. Be yourself. Climb the route. Go get it!
