June 1st, 2017:The Salt Lake Climbers Alliance (SLCA), the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS Church), and Access Fund announce the signing of an unprecedented lease for 140 acres in Little Cottonwood Canyon (LCC). The parcel, known as the Gate Buttress, is about one mile up LCC canyon and has been popular with generations of climbers because of its world-class granite.
The agreement secures legitimate access to approximately 588 routes and 138 boulder problems at the Gate Buttress for rock climbers, who will be active stewards of the property. The recreational lease is the result of several years of negotiations between LDS Church leaders and the local climbing community.
Access Note: The climbs on the Church Buttress above the vault as well as the Glen boulders that have been traditionally closed will remain closed.
Please help us steward this area and leave no trace.

Description
Is it a duck? A turkey. A turducken? A turd-dunking? Another rando that probably won’t get much traffic but made us chuckle.
It’s half between Thanksgiving and Christmas and you can’t decide between a turkey, a chicken, or a duck. Add some Holiday b-ball and maybe you’re TurDunking? Trying hard here on the duck theme.
A fun little nugget tucked on the far east flank of the Duck a-l'Orange slab. The beef of this dish is the first fifteen feet, after which, things turn mellow. If it wasn’t for a traumatic landing zone, this would be a great V0- crack boulder problem.
Start off a narrow ledge on the far eastern side of the Duck slab (or better yet, start on the short right facing crack below) and follow nice jams up and right. When the jams dissipate, unleash your chickenhead dunking skills.
Fun jams and good gear - almost a playground jungle gym venture. From the prominent chickenhead, follow the easy crack above to a gear belay or a short 5.6 one-bolt slab to chains (just left of a prominent juniper).
If anyone has previous ascent info, send it along. We climbed this on a cold December morning, waiting for the sun to appear between the crests of the Coalpit subpeaks. It appeared for about 10 minutes.
Gear - single cam rack up to #4 camalot. VHS copy of White Men Can’t Jump for style points and unrequested beta from Rosie Perez.
