Access Issue: Bridges Out! IMPORTANT LADWP NEGOTIATIONS!! Details

Due to liability concerns, bridges are being removed in the Owens River Gorge at the request of LADWP. The Bishop Area Climbers Coalition and the Access Fund are currently in negotiations with LADWP to get this issue resolved. In the meantime, please continue to be good land stewards by respecting these bridge closures and finding alternate crossing points until this issue is resolved.

1) Never park or camp overnight at the access points.
2) Always park off the pavement, taking great care to avoid blocking the gates.
3) Clean up after your dogs. (Local climbers are finding abandoned doggie poop bags.)
4) Pack out all trash and TP, including picking up after others.
5) Use the outhouses if at all possible.

Description

Neverending pumpy face to crack to face climbing left of Animal Style and Jaws of Life. Start on Animal Style, then bust left at the 3rd bolt to access the perfect orange face right of Tore Down. Move right towards a nice lieback crack at the top to skirt the crux headwall finish of Monkey Siege (12+). Lower to the midway anchor of Jaws of Life with an 80m rope, or to the ground with a 100m

Location

Left of Nice Jugs, shares the first 3 bolts with Animal Style before moving left to gain the beautiful orange face above. First bolt up in the chimney after about 25' of 4th class, easy to back-clean after clipping the second

Protection

20 or so bolts, a few long slings and back-cleaning when possible help reduce drag. 100m rope to lower to the ground, or lower-pull-lower from the midway anchor of Jaws of Life with an 80m. Tie a knot in the end of your rope!

I can’t take any credit except for having the pleasure of walking up and getting to climb this rig and animal style. These routes are the brain child of Dustin, doing all of the cleaning and equipping by himself. Thanks for your generous nature and letting me go for the exciting onsights!
