Description

A huge freestanding column that gets kind of worked by even the slightest sun. Climb fun approach ice for 60-80 feet, then (delicately) fire up steep candles to the trees.

(Route name and FA info provided by Todd Swain’s Southern New England& Eastern New York Guidebook).

Location

Just left of the Jaws area in a small amphitheater. Some other cool lines, one that I think Brad White describes as Spiral Staircase. I think this pillar is between that route and Jaws.

Protection

This thing's a beast! Spiral Staircase goes up the curtain and pillar to the left? I think?

[Hide Comment] This thing was formed in a BIG way a few years ago, but we top roped it, as the effects of sun and heating/cooling were very clear. It's probably the most classic thing at Holt's Jan 13, 2025
