Offwidth Crack

V0, Boulder, 18 ft (5 m),  Avg: 2 from 1 vote
FA: unknown
California > San Francisco B… > San Francisco > Glen Canyon > Main Cliff Band
Warning Access Issue: Protected plants and other issues DetailsDrop down

Description

This off-width crack can be climbed on the outside using a leg bar and the numerous internal sharp features OR, if you're on the thinner side, you can tunnel through as a full chimney climb. Climbers tackling the chimney can exit out the front for a bit of exposure, or out the back - both ways are wider than the initial squeeze.

Both variants are both fun and unique for the area.

Location

The large overhung crack facing the Thistle Boulder - the last crack before the right side of "Main Cliff Band"

Likely M-9 in the Jan. 1940 edition of the Sierra Club Yodeler.

Protection

pads & spotters if you climb as an OW, no pro necessary if you climb it as a chimney (good luck falling out)
