Virginia > Southwest Virgi… > Blacksburg Vici… > Craig Creek > Controlled Descent Bo…

Description

Slightly overhanging face on great rock. On the right side of the boulder, sit start super low on a sharp left-hand crimp edge and right hand around the arete on a short sloping crimp rail with a high right heel hook on a small bulge. Move up with crimps and small jugs and then left to a gaston. Come in with the right hand and top out towards the middle/left side of the boulder.

Location

Off of craig creek rd and about a mile up forest service rd 10791. You almost certainly need a car with high clearance and 4wd if you want to drive all the way. This isnt much of a road. Once you park, about a 100yd walk left of the road and uphill to the boulder.

[Hide Comment] I made the 2nd ascent today. The FA and I started from a very low right hand sidepull. You could also still sit start one move higher, from the crimp on the corner. It's up to you how you climb it, and skipping the first move (by starting higher) wouldn't change the grade. Personally, I think it climbs a little better from the higher sit start. Jan 29, 2025
