Access Issue: Parking and Dogs Details

CRAG-VT has secured a parking lot for the Bolton Dome! Currently there is room for 12 cars. Turn onto Champ Ln. and the parking lot is immediately seen on the left. There are signs to show you where to park. From the lot, walk up to the cliff.

IF THE LOT IS FULL: Park on the SOUTH side of the road clear of any mailboxes and with all tires off the paved portion of the road.

Additionally, no dogs are allowed at Bolton Dome after a few incidents involving neighbors.

Description

A short but fun mix of face, slab, and dihedral climbing, with beginner-friendly bolting and easy access to the Jamathon anchor.

Scramble up the ledge to reach jugs at the first bolt. Clip, then move left onto the slab and follow two more bolts to the big ledge. Continue up a fun corner (crux), then angle right on easy low angle terrain past two more bolts to the Jamathon anchor.

At the 8th (last) bolt it can be tempting to continue straight up the easy slab toward two more bolts rather than traversing right to the Jamathon anchor. This is not the climb; it is a second pitch extension to Jamathon established by Dr. Katzman. If you choose to go this way you will end up at the P2 anchor for Country Doctor's Ramble and you will need to make two single rope rappels to get down.

A short section of the low angle climbing just after the crux tends to seep after heavy rain. Also, you will need someone to follow the route in order to clean your draws, so plan accordingly. I'm planning on adding a two bolt ring anchor directly above the dihedral when the hardware comes in the mail, so stay tuned for better accessibility in the near future.
