Description
The Strand (E2 5b; 5.10b) climbs the excellent, continuous crack that splits the main panel of rock in the Upper Tier sector. Protection is good throughout, and the quartzite offers enough face features to keep things from ever getting desperate. An acknowledged classic in a world-class venue.
Location
The Strand is located on the Upper Tier, climber's right of the Gogarth Main Cliff, and is reached by dropping down the approach gully as for the Main Cliff low tide traverse. Once on the narrow vegetated terrace below the walls of the Upper Tier, the clean panel of rock with The Strand will be obvious, but take your time picking the best line through the ferns, dirt and rock.
