Description Suggest change

This is a good route for beginner leaders new to the canyon and climbing its unique volcanic tuff. It is conveniently located next to a 5.4 and two harder routes (5.8 and 5.10). You can reach the anchor for the harder routes by leading either the 3 or 4 if you want to TR them. As with most climbs in Penitente, the crux is at the start and gets easier as you hit the low angle slab.

Location Suggest change

It is listed in Nate Liles guidebook "Penitente Rock Climbing in the San Luis Valley" as "Family Slab". You make a right after Bad Rap Wall up the Rock Garden trail. The slab lies approximately 30 yards up the trail on the right.

Protection Suggest change

3 bolts to a two bolt anchor with chains.
