Description
This route is an extension of Freedom or some other climb. It originally was used to rise up and right across the face of Lost Angel above Freedom's first pitch on the huge, sloping, ramp feature to the right hand edge of the crag and then onward. One of several optional endings (or for that matter beginnings) can be used to change its length or difficulty though.
P1. Climb Freedom (10a, *, bolted) to reach the anchor at the top of that pitch.
Other alternatives are:
- Light of Day (10b, PG-13, *, trad) can be used.
- P1 of Rock Odyssey (11c, **, bolted).
- P1 of Naked Lunch (10d, **, bolted) is another options for getting to the top of the "P2 belay" more directly.
- P1 of Awakenings (11b, *, bolted) can be used to access the same ledge, arriving to the same ledge, but arriving up and right of the others and then traversing down and left to reach the top of P2.
P2. From the bolted belay on top of P1, traverse up and right over the top of the huge trench and large boulders for about 30'. You will pass the anchors at the top of P1 of Awakenings out at the edge of the ledge. This is fairly solid and secure and could be a simple extension of P1, though drag could be an issue, and it forces building a full belay with a directional to bring up the second on P1, whatever that may be. Build a belay here (or sink 1 bomber piece) at the bottom of a mossy overlap of rock that roughly forms a very obtuse, left-facing corner that leads up to the lower left edge of the second section of the huge ramp system you are presently on.
