Description
Ever had the desire to bear hug a tufa? If not this route might not be your cup of tea. If so, this line will be right up your alley with wild three-dimensional climbing on some of the largest tufa features on the wall.
Bring the kneepad for this one, as multiple no-hands rests can be had and a kneebar or two may make some of the more difficult sections seem easier.
The climbing begins on the left side of the large tufa drip lines on the middle of the wall. Getting past the first two bolts is considered the crux by many, with multiple different sequences possible, all around the same difficultly. Immediately following is a good rest and a couple more bolts of steepening tufa tugging. Around bolt 5 the climb arrives at a large hole feature in the wall that is bordered by large tufas on most sides. Avoid climbing too far into this hole feature as the cave above is a roost for native bats as well as the name-sake for this climb. Make a high clip at bolt 6 then traverse around the far edge of the hole stemming between tufas with nothing but air below. Make your way back around the hole and ride the giant stalactite ribbon through more pumpy climbing to an anchor near the lip of the overhang.
