Chode Castration

5.12a/b, Sport, 65 ft (20 m),  Avg: 3.1 from 9 votes
FA: Trevor Taylor & Daniel Montgomery (2023)
Washington > Central-W Casca… > N Bend & Vicinity > Exit 32; Little Si > Woods Group > (b) The Woods

Description

Climb the mildly dirty 5.10 slab, then launch up the seam grabbing the castration block. If you knee bar it at a certain angle you might not come home with your boys. Fight up grabbing some bizarre but awesome tuff style rails before big jugs at the top.

Location

The most obvious feature in the right side of the woods. It’s a extremely flared crack

Protection

7 bolts, anchor with loweroffs.

[Hide Comment] PSA: my partner and I were each stung 100+ times after disturbing a yellow jacket ground nest in the belay area back in July 2025. I was carried out by SAR after going into anaphylactic shock (despite no prior history of allergies to yellow jacket stings). Yellow jackets often nest in the same area each year. Of course feel free to do you whatever you like, but given my near-death experience I want to get this warning out there. If you plan to climb this route you might consider thoroughly trampling around the belay before roping up. If they're there, you'll be way happier to meet them this way than in the middle of climbing like we were. Apr 18, 2026
