Access Issue: Raptor Nesting Advisory Details

Please avoid raptor nests. El Cajon Mountain- Golden Eagles nested successfully at this site in 2009, after relocating twice between alternate nest sites. The El Cajon Mountain climbing area is in close proximity to the San Diego River Park Foundation property. This property's purpose is to protect and conserve San Diego's threatened habitat and wildlife in perpetuity. Specifically, the San Diego River Park Foundation are protecting golden eagles that nest in the area and ceanothus, a California lilac that is an endemic sensitive plant species. Please avoid and limit recreational activities at the San Diego River Park Foundation property to promote San Diego's threatened habitat and wildlife. Thank you!

Description

Climb past 2 bolts and move left and swim/climb up the grassy gully until you can clip the 3rd bolt on the left side of the gully. Diagonal left under the mini headwall until you can move up and over it. Slabby climbing more or less straight up past several more bolts leads to an anchor. Single rope rap gets you down. It looks like there is a 2nd pitch but I didn't climb it.

Location

This is the first line of bolts when you get to the top of the vertical hand line. There is a metal tag on the first bolt that says 5.9.
