Description
Start up the large left-facing corner of Obscured by Clouds but rather than stepping right to the thin crack on the buttress that leads to a roof, continue up the corner and climb straight up wide cracks eventually ending in a belly roll or some other entertaining move to gain the top of the left side of the Obscured by Clouds buttress. Belay from gear that can be found a considerable distance back from the edge.
SQIII shows Obskewered starting up face maybe 6 feet left of the Obscured by Clouds corner and gaining a much smaller left-facing dihedral that joins the OBC corner after 20 or so feet, and comments that the “rock has been pretty trashed by fire.” There’s a similar comment about fire damage on the Obscure Rock main page. In any event, that start did seem unappealing, so we started up the OBC corner—done this way, the rock is fine and I suspect the route is equally interesting.
