There are many seasonal raptor closures with varying dates and specific boundaries. These generally effect The Monument, Kiss of the Lepers, Picnic Lunch Wall and/or Smith Rock group, and possibly elsewhere. These usually run from February to the beginning of August, but each closure is usually shorter than this, and is dependent on the birds' behavior. Description

Climb Gruff or Crime Wave, mantle onto the pillar above their anchors, and step left to access a steep, hanging headwall. Follow a seam with liebacks, edges, and sidepulls past two bolts and an optional small cam placement to an anchor in lower angle rock.

This route has great rock and movement and adds quality (and difficulty) to the classics Gruff and Crime Wave.

Climb Gruff. Or Crime Wave. Step left. Not to be confused with the “Gruff Plus” extension which moves right across dirty rock to a weakness through the roof.
