Description

This is a stand start to Strange Trails and is the most three dimensional, blocky V9 around. After lots of cleaning, this fun problem has become a solid, slightly scary, power endurance classic.

Start standing on a good edge in the most vertical part of the cave. Move immediately right through kneebars and cryptic terrain with a crux in the small corner getting into the horizontal crack. A hollow (but solid) fin leads to a final, exposed feeling sequence moving to the less steep terrain on the right side of the cave. Easily top out from here.

I originally thought this could be V10, but due to so many beta options and cryptic sequences which can be dialed in, I figured it’s best as an involved V9. Despite the landing, Buttercubes is a classic, unique problem.

Location

Buttercubes starts on the largest vertical panel on the cave or is the stand start to Strange Trails. From a positive, flat edge, climb up and right through the pure line of least resistance to top out on the far right side of the wall.

Protection

Many pads, the landing is a slanted ramp, less than ideal.
