Description

This broad pillar forms over a cave. Climb the pillar--steep for 40 feet or so, then easier--to an iced-up willow cluster, or make an anchor before the ice runs out.

Location

1/3 mile before the summer trailhead for Cow Creek (6 - 7 miles from where the plow stops), look for a pillar in a prominent drainage to the southwest. Descend to the creek and bushwhack up the drainage 400 feet. The ice is reached in just under half a mile from the road.

There is some avalanche danger in this gully.

Protection

Screws.
