Description

A low-angle ice slab in a beautiful granite bowl. It's nothing special, but it has good, reliable ice—once you clear off the snow—and it's fun for solo laps (with a fast butt slide back down) or a first ice lead.

Location

Hyde Memorial State Park (fee area). Park on the side of Hyde Park Road (New Mexico State Highway 475), then cut through the campground and group site to the start of the Waterfall Trail. Take the mellow trail to the base of the waterfall (~0.3 miles).

Protection

Ice screws to tree anchor.
