Description

Tall, gaping, classic chimney. Expect a long pitch of physical climbing. We found the crux to be up high where the chimney pinches down and we could no longer quite fit inside.

From the top anchor it is possible to reach the summit of Hawk Pinnacle via a short pitch of low 5th class wide crack climbing. Downclimb or rappel from the single ancient Chouinard cam up there.

Location

The obvious chimney near the middle of Hawk Pinnacle's northeast face. This is very close to the the easily identifiable Forest Lawn crack on neighboring Bastion Tower. Follow the approach for Forest Lawn and then continue a couple of minutes further along the rough trail.

Protection

The chimney is reasonably well protected with cams to BD #6. Single #5 and #6 worked well. Knee pads will be appreciated. DOUBLE ROPES REQUIRED to rappel from top anchor.
